The Chairman of Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Safiyanu Andaha was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen on Monday night at Ningo village along Andaha –Akwanga Road.
It was gathered that he was kidnapped alongside Adamu Custom, a native of the area who was with him around 8.30 pm.
Confirming the development to journalists in Lafia, the Special Adviser to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Haruna Kassimu.
“The Chairman, Safiyanu, was abducted at Ningo village on the Akwanga-Andaha Rad in the Akwanga Local Government Area of the state along with one Alhaji Adamu Custom at about 8:30 p.m. on January 1, 2024,” he said.
Meanwhile, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel said security personnel including the police and other agencies, were on the trail of the abductors to ensure the release of the victims.
