Following the Emirship tussle between Emir Muhammad Sanusi II and Emir Aminu Bayero on who leads the Jumat prayer at the Central mosque on Friday, Kano State Police Command has confirmed that Emir Sanusi will lead the prayers.
This was made known by the Commissioner of Police Usaini Gumel on Friday stating that Emir Bayero will be attending his prayers at the mosque located within the Nasarawa Palace where he resides.
The Police boss emphasized that ample security measures have been put in place at the Emir of Kano’s palace for the Jummah prayers with support from State Security Agencies.
Despite District Heads (Hakimai) and members of the Islamic sect, Tijjaniyya Shura Council paying homage to Emir Sanusi, there was palpable tension among residents when the Emirs announced their plans to pray at the Central Mosque.
Recall that the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN Olukayode Ariwoola had summoned the Judges of the Federal High Court in Kano and Kano State High Court over conflicting injunction orders on both Emirs.
Emir Bayero was dethroned and Emir Sanusi was reinstated after four years of his dethronement by former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
