Police Identify Officer Who Killed Ogene Musician Igbo-Jah

Police have identified Inspector Ozonwanji Joseph as the personnel who killed popular Ogene Musician Chikezie Okezie Nwamba (a.k.a. Igbo-Jah) in what he described as an ‘accidental discharge’ on Friday night.

According to DSP Daniel Ndukwe on Saturday the Enugu State Command’s Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, psc (+), in the company of top officials of the State Government who visited the grieving family assured the family, relatives, friends, and good people of Enugu State that the ongoing investigation into the case will be concluded within record time and justice duly served.

CP Kanayo reassured all affected by the murder of Igbo-Jah to keep faith with the police as justice will be served and stated that Culprit is currently in custody and will be made to face the full weight of the law upon the conclusion of the investigation.

Igbo-jah, who was in Enugu to perform at a burial ceremony, was shot on Friday night by a police officer after he had performed at the ceremony at the anti-cult unit of the Enugu State Police Command.

He was shot 8 times all over his body while setting up his equipment and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.
