About 10 people were confirmed dead, including police and an NSCDC officer, after a car rammed into a procession of members of the Boys Brigade who were on an Easter rally in Gombe State on Sunday night. The boys were on their usual Easter rally to celebrate Jesus Christ’s resurrection when they were met at Alheri Junction, Biu Road by the NSCDC officer and his policeman friend.
The Civil Defense officer had met the procession while passing and after exchanging words with the youths who told him not to disrupt their procession, he moved past them, switched off his car’s headlight and ran into them from behind, killing eight on the spot.
About 30 others were also injured. The youth, however, chased the security officers, caught them and mobbed them to death. [
