The Archbishop of the Methodist Church, Umuahia Archdiocese, His Grace, Most Rev (Dr) Chibuzor Raphael Opoko has extolled the great transformation going on in Abia state as an indication of a state with glorious future.
Speaking during a dinner held at the Deputy Governor’s lodge, Umuahia, in honour of the visiting President of the World Methodist Church Council, Rev (Dr) Jong Chun Park, he said that Abia under Governor Okezie Ikpeazu is becoming better and better with lots of positive things happening in the state and prophesied that God was going to perfect the good things happening in the state while assuring Rev Park’s visit would further bring good tidings to the state.
The Archbishop also commended the state government for its love and respect for the clergy and the Church in general assuring that clergy would continue to pray for the government and people of Abia State.
Also speaking, Rev Park said that the focal point of Christianity remained peace which Jesus Christ represents and stressed the need for the world to embrace peace and not war.
Rev. Park pointed out that Holiness and happiness are the most beautiful hallmarks in the life of every Christian and commended Archbishop Opoko and Bishop Sunday Onuoha for assisting him reach the level he attained today. He said that henceforth Abia has become his spiritual home that he will visit more regularly.
Responding, Abia State Deputy Governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, PhD, assured that the government is committed to ensuring that the state attains the highest developmental heights through God’s grace and hard work. He solicited the sustained prayers and support of the Church so that the administration’s objectives would be attained quickly.
The deputy governor further stated that Abia remains one of the safest states in the country despite the security challenges facing the nation and expressed optimism that the nation would soon overcome her challenges with support and prayers of all well meaning citizens.
