The Senate Chief Whip, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu has expressed sympathy over the damage of broadcast equipment belonging to ABN TV, saying it is a collective loss.
Senator Kalu in a chat with newsmen on Sunday said he was sad when the news of the development broke.
The Senator representing Abia North while underlining that the damage is not personal to the management and staff of ABN TV but a collective one to the media industry in the country applauded the professionalism of the media company in the dissemination of information.
Sen. Kalu, a former Abia State governor hailed ABN TV for their unbiased and objective news reportage, calling on other organisations to take a cue from ABN TV. He further promised to offer assistance in replacing the damaged equipment to help the organisation regain its stamina in serving the people of Nigeria.
In his response, the Director ABN, Mr Ifeanyi Okali expressed gratitude to the lawmaker for sharing in his organisation’s burden especially at this time when the world is confronted with economic difficulties imposed by the COVID-19 outbreak.
Mr Okali assured that ABN will be at the forefront of promoting responsible journalism in the national interest.
