Abia State Command has dismissed Police Corporal Obagi Njok for the misuse of a firearm which led to the death of Abiriba businessman Emmanuel Okocha in Aba on the 20th of April, 2024.
According to the spokesperson of the Command, ASP Maureen Chinaka on Wednesday, the disciplinary action which have been concluded found the dismissed Corporal ‘guilty of discreditable conduct to with misuse of firearm and has therefore been dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force.’
While condemning acts of misconduct, unprofessionalism, and indiscipline among its officers, It also disclosed that the deceased’s family and relevant stakeholders were carried along during every step of the process.
Part of the statement reads, “Investigation into the criminal aspects of his conduct has also been concluded and the matter has therefore been handed over to the office of the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Abia state on 24/05/2024 for prosecution in court.”
Recall that the late Mr Okocha was shot and killed over his refusal to give the dismissed Police Corporal a bribe.
