At Aro Day 2024, the President General of Nzuko Aro Worldwide, Mazi Nnadozie Udensi, emphasized that community development is vital for a thriving society. He stated that all sons and daughters of Arochukwu Kingdom have a role in fostering the growth and advancement of their community.
Mazi Udensi highlighted that self-reliance and community empowerment are hallmarks of the Arochukwu Kingdom, which is why the Kingdom honours prominent individuals who have distinguished themselves through their service to the community. He announced that the Aro Day 2024 awards, known as “Honour for Distinguished Champions of Aro Renaissance, Peace, and Community Development,” are a fitting tribute to those who have faced challenges and utilized their talents and resources to create a cycle of growth and development.
He commended All Aro USA association ably led by its Executive Director Mazi Chris Onyeador, for the provision of free healthcare to Aro residents and also applauded Mazi Henry Okorofor, and Adamazi Ely Umeham, the President of Nzuko Aro Women’s Wing in the UK for their significant contributions to the community.
The Chairman of the Occasion, Ugwuaro Mazi Goddy Ijioma, celebrated the awardees and encouraged them to prepare for more work ahead to foster further development in the community. He stated, “We honour those who have distinguished themselves through their exemplary service to the Kingdom. It’s not just an award; you have shown what it means to serve and honour the community. We celebrate you not only for your achievements but also for how you inspire us to contribute to our community. Let us reflect on the values that unite us—unity, pride, and heritage.”
The highlight of the event was a performance by the singer Chinedu Okoli, popularly known as Flavour N’bania, who thrilled the crowd at the Civic Center in Oror Arochukwu Kingdom.
Also present were Eze Ibom Isii Mazi Amos Ngwu, Eze Ezeagwu na Okwaragwu Mazi Okorafor Uror Okorafor, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, the Distinguished Awardees, Ugwuaros, Ikembas, Ugoaros, Mazi Ndukwe Adindu (Chairman of the Central Planning Committee for Aro Day 2024), Dr. Azubuike Okoro, Sir Ernie Onwumere, Prof. Obozuluike Ofoelue, and many other notable personalities.
Meanwhile, a post humous Ikemba award was also given to Late Mazi Kingsley Kanu Okereke and late Mazi Obasi Fred while Adaukwu Aro was given to Late Dr Mrs Helen Ukpabi.
