A glamorous witness in a Russian court case has claimed that someone tried to murder her after she fell from a balcony in the Czech Republic.
Instagram model Ekaterina ‘Katya’ Bobkova alleges she was drugged and hit over the head before her 33ft fall at the Spindleruv Mlyn mountain resort which left her fighting for her life in a coma.
Czech police concluded the fall in May was an ‘accident’ but Russian medics have backed her claim that she was struck on the head and was unconscious when she fell.
Bobovka had testified in an assault case surrounding Russian footballers Pavel Mamayev and Alexandr Kokorin.
The pair were jailed for 17 and 18 months respectively for a drunken assault on a government official in Moscow.
Bobkova had been with the players on the night out when they attacked bureaucrat Denis Pak and a driver for a prominent TV journalist.
At the time of the attack Kokorin, 28, was a striker with Zenit St. Petersburg and Mamayev, 30, was a midfielder for Krasnodar F.C.
Makeup artist Bobkova was in a group including an ex-Russian senator and businessman when she fell in the Czech Republic, according to reports in Moscow.
Bobkova said that on the night of her fall she ‘drank no more than two glasses of wine’.
Before going on the trip, she had warned other guests that she could not speak about the incident with the players as she was a witness.
But she claimed she was suddenly quizzed over it by men in the group.
She is now calling on the Russian authorities to open a criminal investigation after speaking for the first time on the drama and submitting a formal claim to the country’s Investigative Committee, said news outlet BAZA.
She asked them to stop talking about the subject.
Bobovka had been invited on the trip by a friend Tatiana Atemasova, a DJ, who had suddenly got back in contact with her after two years, she said.
She says that after drinking wine she became ‘sleepy’ and then ‘did not remember anything’.
She was given a substance to make her drowsy before she was struck on the head, she claimed.
‘Moscow doctors say that it looks like I was hit on the head first and then thrown down,’ she alleged.
‘They say I was unconscious when falling.’
Her demand for an investigation is being considered by the committee.
Earlier Colonel Ivan Jezkova, of the regional police in Hradec Kralove, said police investigated the case and concluded the fall was ‘an accident’.
The woman had both alcohol and an unspecified drug in her blood at the time of her fall, she said.
