Lagos lawmaker and Nollywood actor Desmond Elliot has opened up about a life-threatening ordeal he faced during the 2020 EndSARS protests, revealing he was nearly harmed when his constituency office in Surulere was attacked by unidentified individuals.
In an interview on Nollywood On Radio, Elliot, who represents Surulere in the Lagos State House of Assembly, said he was forced to spend the night in his office due to the government-imposed curfew, which made it impossible for him to return to his home in Lekki.
“When there was curfew during the EndSARS period, a lot of bad boys came into Surulere and because of the curfew, I could not go home,” Elliot explained. “I was stuck in Lekki and had to go back to my office in Surulere.”

The 51-year-old actor-turned-politician said the night took a terrifying turn after what started as a quiet evening turned into chaos. “I was watching TV in my office because I had the intention to spend the night there,” he recounted.
Elliot said he became alarmed after hearing the landlady’s daughter outside shouting that he did not reside in the building. Moments later, a Molotov cocktail was hurled into the office, setting part of it ablaze.
“That was when I knew there was real danger,” Elliot said. “A bottle with fuel and fire was thrown into my office, and it caught fire. I had to call the chief of staff for help. I have never been so scared in my life it was horrible.”
Elliot’s account sheds more light on the unrest and insecurity that erupted in various parts of the country during the EndSARS movement against police brutality.
