Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, has commissioned the gully erosion reclamation works and 2.5km asphalted road, culvert bridge at Umuogele Umuakwu Nsulu, Isialangwa North LGA of the state amidst celebrations by people of the community who waited for the Governor till very late in the night.
The obviously elated Governor Ikpeazu who arrived the community with his entourage after navigating through narrow graded roads leading to the community-directed the state ministry of works to immediately identify a new road that will directly connect the community to Ururuka Road and revert to him.
According to him, “We give God the glory that we have arrested the rampaging gully erosion and delivered 2.5km new road infrastructure to our people. But having seen the challenge faced by Umuakwu people to connect to Ururuka Road, it is only right that we ensure that the state ministry of work connects the new road to the existing road network around the area”.
Governor Ikpeazu while also commissioning the gully erosion reclamation works and 2.5km asphalted road executed by his administration at Umuezeukwu Nsulu, Isialangwa North LGA of the state, charged the people of the area to see the work as an opportunity to produce more agricultural products to support his administration’s drive of improving agricultural productivity and vowed to use the poultry cluster located within the area to make the state the highest producer of poultry products in Nigeria.
Speaking to newsmen after the second day of project inspection and commissioning tour by the Governor, the state Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, expressed appreciation to journalists in the state who were part of the team that visited both ongoing and completed projects of the Governor and informed that the tour will continue throughout the remaining months of the year.
According to him, “though we couldn’t visit all the projects scheduled within the two days set aside for the first phase, we hope to reschedule those we couldn’t visit and inform the media on the new dates”, he said.
