Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has inaugurated a Six Man Committee to do on the spot investigation of unnecessary encroachment of Government Land in our public schools by individuals and organizations.
Inaugurating the Committee at Government House, Umuahia because of reports of illegal encroachment and construction works going on at Amakama Community Primary School in Umuahia South LGA, Governor Ikpeazu expressed dismay that some individuals and organizations have consciously formed the habit of encroaching into Government Lands in our Public Schools without any approval or authority from Government.
Governor Ikpeazu represented by his Deputy Sir Ude Oko Chukwu charged the Committee which has one week to complete their assignment to do a proper investigation of encroachment and construction works going on at Amakama Community Primary in Umuahia south LGA and other public schools and report back with recommendations for necessary action.
The Chief Executive who stressed that Government cannot watch the illegality without taking necessary action, urged the Committee to help Government streamline things in public schools by taking their assignment serious as Government has implicit confidence in their ability to deliver and guide Government accordingly within the stipulated time.
In a vote of thanks, the Secretary of the Committee and the Acting Chairman ASUBEB ,Elder Josiah Anonaba on behalf of other members thanked Government for finding them worthy to serve and pledged to objectively carry out their assignment and report back with recommendations within stipulated time.
The Committee has the Chief Of Staff To The Governor, Chief ACB Agbazuere as Chairman, HOS, Commissioner For Land, Survey and Urban Planning ,Commissioner For Education and TC Chairman Umuahia South as members while the DCOS to the Deputy Governor Sir Don Ubani Permanent Secretary Ministry Of Information, Sir Anthony Ojinji and other top Government attended the inauguration.
