The Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties and Joint Projects Chief John J. Okoro has commended the synergy and cordial relationship existing between the Local and State Government in the state.
Chief Okoro who made the commendation in an inspection visit to Projects executed by past and present administrations of Umunneochi LGA, lauded Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for initiating the *one ward, one project programme* as well as approving the execution of Monumental projects across the 17 Local Government Areas of the State and called on Abians to continue to support and pray for him.
The Commissioner who was on the inspection visit in conjunction with the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Gabriel Onyendilefu stated that the Ministry was created to serve as an eye to the Governor especially in project execution, praised the efforts of the past and present Administrations of Umunneochi LGA in execution of meaningful and People-oriented projects and urged them not to relent, stressing that it is in line with the zeal of the state government to deliver democracy dividends to the people.
He maintained that they are here to let them know that the Governor is determined to deliver his campaign promises to them and that is why they have come to find out what they have been doing with all the resources that the Governor has been approving and also know how to help them to achieve more.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Gabriel Onyendilefu explained that the projects being inspected were started by the past administrations, disclosing that the Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has released huge resources to ensure they leave a good legacy for posterity. He made it clear that they are not witch-hunting anybody rather they are in Umunneochi to make sure there is accountability and to make sure the right thing is done for the betterment of Umunneochi LGA.
Speaking while receiving the Commissioners and their Entourage at the Umunneochi Council Headquarters, in the company of his Deputy, and other heads of departments, the Chairman of Umunneochi LGA, Hon. Engr. Mathew Ibe, described it as a thing of joy and honour to receive the Commissioners in Umunneochi LGA and to present to them the projects executed by his predecessors whom he commended for their doggedness and discipline in delivering dividends of democracy, as well as his own Administration, he commended the present administration of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for the importance it attaches to projects and prudent management of resources and described the inspection as a welcome development.
The Chairman, however, eulogized the Governor for setting up the fact-finding team ably led by the two great and seasoned Administrators in the persons of Chief Gabriel Onyendilefu and Chief John Okoro.
Some of the projects inspected by the team include – * Ongoing Mbala – Amuda erosion control site
* Renovation of the Chairman’s office
* Rehabilitation of a borehole at the council headquarters that serves the whole of Amuda.
* Renovation of the office block of the head of the service.
* Construction of a public convenience at the council headquarters.
* Provision of 400 desks for primary school pupils.
* Installation of 60 units of street lights at Amuda Isuochi.
* Reconstruction of Obinaka, Obinolu primary healthcare centre.
* Grading of 5 rural roads.
* Ongoing construction of Umunze – Umuaku security house.
* Ongoing construction of a permanent site for the council etc.
Meanwhile, the team will visit Isuikwuato LGA on Friday, 24th January 2020.
