A man has died after demanding a paternity test from his wife. He suggested for the DNA test but later opted out of it.
This was made known by the brother of the man on Twitter, who narrated what led to his brother demanding for a test.
Obviously, the wife was cheating and the man husband caught her red-handed but for some strange reason, called off the paternity test.
The brother wrote, “At a family meeting when my late brother stood and blurted out to my dad that he wants to do a DNA test for his 3 kids, we were all shocked. We are here trying to settle issues between both of you and you’re accusing this poor woman. Abomination. Awa in Ishan. Pop asked him why he would say a thing like that. Bro was just ranting Sokoto in my opinion. I as the last born was just looking at him with disappointment. Like you can even afford it. Get your act together bro. Fear no let me yarn sha. Bro was a wacko and stammered.”
“Finally, the good people of Agenebode informed him that when he goes to work, one senior stud was coming to service mummy. Went home and caught her in the act. Gas Igbos everywhere. Called my dad ranting and even from a phone, his spit was pouring on the man. Calm down, son. Pop called for another meeting in a week after informing the elders of Opoji. Meeting came, Cyril didn’t show up. Caroline didn’t show up. They called him. Nigga said he and his wife were working it out. Working what out… this is awa and certain rites must be done or you die. Bro said it’s his family and he’ll handle issues as he saw fit. Dad wished him luck and ended the call. That was the last time they ever spoke. More than a year later, I was at PPA at Emohua drinking squadron when my phone rang. Cyril was dead. She came to the house. Dad was surprised to see her. Said Cyril is sick and one Reverend Okpere said my dad must pray for him. Where is Cyril, he’s ina car outside. Got there, he was lying at the back with kids dressed for school. He was practically comatose.”
“My dad instantly started calling the family doctor. When they got to the hospital, the doctor said he had been dead for hours. Cabman confirmed he was paid to transport a corpse. Tears everywhere. Apparently, my bro had to relocate to Aduwawa in Benin as his wife was been mocked at Bode. So we had a dead brother with 4 kids. During his estrangement with my dad, they had another kid. The eldest was still in pry school and the widow wasn’t working. How will they survive? Dad called a meeting that we have to take care of the kids. However, that DNA test must be done. She vehemently opposed. Cried. About how her husband’s family was oppressing her. My dad reminded her she was caught in the act of adultery and besides she didn’t shed a tear at the hospital when Cyril was pronounced dead. Raising 4 kids is no joke. We must be sure they’re ours.”
“She refused. Dad started legal proceedings. Village elders told him that he too like court and village will handle it. She either shows up for the test or the village test. She finally opted for a DNA test which revealed it was the last child that was my brother’s. I had always dismissed Ishan stories of men dying for their wife’s adultery and shielding her from cleansing rites. Was superstitious bullshit to me. After losing my brother to a sickness which I don’t know till date, I don’t know anymore. Shit de happen. Men cheat. Women cheat. It’s a crazy world. Anyone is free to seek validation. Trust is earned not given. Till now I don’t know if my brother died for not following ishan rites. But for me, I know paternity fraud is real considering he was raising 3 kids that weren’t his. We move.
Now to be clear, she wasn’t the only guilty one. My brother was a chronic philanderer and never bothered hiding it. God rest his soul but to be sincere, he practically bragged about his escapades. He’s not innocent in this.”
