Police Bust Baby Factory, Launch Search on Principal Suspect

Following the foiled kidnap attempt of a four-year-old child, the Anambra State Police Command has launched a search on the principal suspect, Gladys Nworie Ikegwuonu, of Ohaozora, Ebonyi State.

The four-year-old child of St Joseph’s School, Otolo Nnewi, was returning home from school in the company of his siblings when two men on a motorcycle grabbed the child and zoomed off with him on 11th March 2021.

Fortunately, the child was rescued by some commercial motorcyclists who pursued and eventually arrested the suspects at Akamili Community, Nnewi.

According to Police Spokesman, Haruna Mohammed, ‘investigations conducted by the Police revealed that the suspects who were beaten to stupor by an angry mob (one of whom one was confirmed dead), were sent by One Gladys Nworie Ikegwuonu, presently at large, who also operates a baby factory and a brothel by keeping young girls and getting them impregnated after which she sells the children to her waiting customers.’

The suspects, 32-year-old Abuchi Ani from Ohaozara in Ebonyi State and 49-year-old Emeka Ikegwuonu from Akabukwu, Nnewi in Anambra State.

The police operatives busted a baby factory, Cool Joint Bar in Nnewi, which was also owned by Gladys and rescued four pregnant girls; 20-year-old Chisom Okoye, 18-year-old Chinecherem Clement, 21-year-old Blessing Ogbonna and 21-year-old Blessing Njoku, the former from Ebonyi State and later from Anambra State.
