The Abia Online Media Publishers, the Umbrella body for all Online Media Practitioners in Abia State has approved the nomination of Chairman Nigerian Medical Association Abia State Chapter, Dr. Chimezie Godswill Okwuonu as Abia Health Personality of The Year.
According to the group, the Award is in recognition of his contributions to the health sector, through researches especially the
Initiation and expansion of dialysis and kidney education in media.
Dr Chimezie is a key member of the kidney transplant team of FMC Umuahia that started kidney transplantation in South east Nigeria and have done 10 kidney transplantations.
He has continued giving free dialysis to indigent patients over one month period, yearly for 4 years consistently, using the Beatitudes Kidney Foundation.
The Award will be presented to the him alongside other Awardees at the Michael Okpara Auditorium on the 19th of Nov. 2021 as part of the activities marking the groups 4-Day Annual General Meeting/Bloggers Week.
According to the planning committee, the 4-Day Bloggers week will commence on Tuesday 16th with the arrival of visiting Bloggers from across the country, a Training Session(17th Nov), a Tour of the Governor’s projects(18th), a media Interactive with the Governor, and the AGM/Awards (19th Nov).
