The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has filed a criminal charge against Professor Cyril Ndifon, the suspended Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Calabar (UNICAL), after its investigation over alleged gross misconduct against some law students in the University.
The students who were armed with placards implored Professor Ndifon to stop seeing them as sex objects while calling on the school management to save them from his grasp.
This led the school management to set up a committee to investigate and address the concerns of the students but Professor Ndifon shunned the invitation of the panel.
In the charge sheet number: FHC/ABJ/CR/511/2023, ICPC is arraigning the Senior Lecturer on a four (4) count charge bordering on sexual harassment, official corruption, and abuse of office contrary to sections 8, 18, and 19 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000.
On the 5th of October, 2023, the son of the embattled lecturer David Ndifon revealed that gunmen abducted his father, Professor Ndifon from his Akpabuyo residence in Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River State.
“It is true. He was taken away by gunmen. The incident happened between the hours of 11 p.m. on Wednesday and the early hours of Thursday.
“We have been trying our best and making necessary calls to ensure his safe return.”
Recall that Professor Ndifon had previously raised alarm over threats to his life by the authorities of the University of Calabar, Cross River State.
