Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, was conferred with the chieftaincy title of Dike Eji Aga Mba translated as “The People’s Warrior”by the traditional ruler of the Ntalakwu Ancient Kingdom in Ikwuano, King Larry.
The ceremony took place during the commissioning of the newly constructed 1.6km Ntalakwu-Umuigu Road in Ikwuano Local Government Area.
Hon. Kalu, accompanied by Abia State APC Chairman Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu and other party leaders, was invited by Chief Emeka Atuma for the event.
The commissioning also marked the formal induction of new members into the All Progressives Congress (APC), including notable figures such as Retired Major Akubundu Awa, a former Majority Leader of the Abia State House of Assembly.

During his address, Hon. Kalu reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s developmental vision for the South East, particularly through the establishment of the South East Development Commission (SEDC).
He expressed confidence that the region would show its appreciation by supporting President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 with over 70% of the vote.
The conferment of the chieftaincy title and the commissioning of the road project underscore the community’s recognition of Hon. Kalu’s contributions to the region’s development and his commitment to serving the people.
