Man Impersonates DIG Frank Mba, Runs Police Recruitment Scam
The police have arrested a 28-year-old man, Dauda Samuel, for impersonating the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG Frank Mba, on Facebook
The police have arrested a 28-year-old man, Dauda Samuel, for impersonating the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG Frank Mba, on Facebook. He is also suspected of being involved in a recruitment scam related to the Nigeria Police Force, as well as charges of computer-related fraud and identity theft.

In a statement on Saturday, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi revealed that Samuel was apprehended by operatives of the National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) following multiple complaints from the public.
The suspect allegedly used this false identity to promote a fictitious police recruitment exercise, fraudulently extorting money from unsuspecting Nigerians under the guise of offering employment with the Nigeria Police Force.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Samuel created and managed fake Facebook accounts using the name and image of DIG Frank Mba, who is responsible for Training and Development, without authorization.
He was recently captured in Panda Village, Nasarawa State, and has confessed to the crime. Samuel has also provided valuable information that is aiding ongoing investigations.
Authorities are currently working to identify possible accomplices and trace additional digital footprints linked to Samuel’s activities through digital forensic analysis.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, has issued a strong warning to individuals involved in cybercrime, urging them to cease their activities or face severe legal consequences. He also advises Nigerians and residents in Nigeria to remain vigilant against individuals making promises that appear too good to be true and to take necessary precautions when interacting in the digital space.
