Ochanja Building Collapse: NEMA Shares Search and Rescue Report

A search and rescue has continued days after buildings collapsed in Oduigbo, Ochanja Market, in Onitsha South Local Government Area of Anambra State causing the death of seven persons with many injured.

Sharing its effort on Thursday, the South East Zonal office of the National Emergency Management Agency in collaboration with ANSEMA, Red Cross Society, and Construction Companies stated that no additional body has been found.

Sharing photos, NEMA wrote: “NEMA South East Zonal office in collaboration with ANSEMA. Red Cross Society and Construction Companies continued the search and rescue operations today 28th February 2024 to rescue more people.

“The NEMA team was seen coordinating the search and rescue operations.

“Again, the NEMA team was supporting in cutting rods and creating openings for easy search and rescue.

“However, no additional body was recovered as of the time of this report.

“The Chairman of Onitsha South LGA Anambra State was physically present to monitor the operations and he applauded the efforts of all stakeholders present.”
