Police Neutralize Notorious Cultist/Kidnappers
The Rivers State Police Command has neutralized a notorious cultist and kidnapper, identified as Gbarani Bume, also known as Pelele, who was a resident of Bere Community in the Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.

According to the spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, Bume was a member of the Iceland Cult Group, which has been terrorizing the Bere/Tabaa area of the Khana Local Government.
Acting on credible intelligence, officers from the Bori Division were mobilized to the Luawii Community on November 15, 2024, after receiving a tip-off that Pelele and his gang were attempting to kidnap a site engineer.

Upon arrival, the operatives were met with gunfire from the suspects, leading to a fierce exchange. During the incident, Pelele was fatally wounded, while his accomplices managed to escape, sustaining various degrees of bullet wounds.
Police recovered several items from the scene, including one AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and ten rounds of live ammunition.
SP Grace Iringe-Koko stated that the investigation is ongoing and efforts are being made to apprehend the fleeing gang members.
