Catholic Church Directs Uniform Mother’s Day Celebration
The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria, CBCN, has directed that Mother’s Day celebrations across all the dioceses in Nigeria should be held on a uniform scheduled date.
The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria, CBCN, has directed that Mother’s Day celebrations across all the dioceses in Nigeria should be held on a uniform scheduled date.

This was made known by the Secretary-General Rev. Fr. Zachariah Nyantiso Samjumi on 23rd of February, 2024 after a general meeting by CBCN where the Catholic Women Organization of Nigeria reported.
The CBCN stated that Mother’s Day should be held on a Sunday of the Solemnity of Annunciation or a Sunday after the Solemnity if the Solemnity does not fall on a Sunday.

It also recognized that although the Annunciation usually falls during Lent, it reminded us that Sundays are not part of Lenten activities.
Remember that there has not been uniformity in Mother’s Day celebrations in Catholic churches in the nation.
