Breaking! Sowore Detained on Arrival to Nigeria

Activist Omoyele Sowore was detained by Nigerian Immigration on his arrival to Nigeria at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos State on Sunday.

According to a post he shared on social media, he was detained on the order of President Bola Tinubu-led administration following his involvement in the proposed October protest over hunger and economic crisis in the country.

Despite the detention, Sowore who is the founder of SaharaReporters has urged Nigerians to go ahead with the protest against tyranny initiated by the present administration.

“DETAINED BY THE @NigerianImmigration, my International passport  confiscated.

I had just arrived in Nigeria from the USA to the MMIA in Lagos; upon reaching Nigerian Immigration, my passport was seized, and they told me They had orders to detain me.
It is part of the broader clampdown by the fascist @officialAbat regime on dissent and their fear of the upcoming #FearlessINOctober. In case this becomes a prolonged and protracted detention, I urge our citizens to ensure ALL stop tyranny means portable and necessary, engaging in the planned series of direct actions slated for October 1st and beyond.
#EndBadGovernaceInNigerianow #RevolutionNow”

Recall that the current administration also detained #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protesters and set a bail of N10 million with stringent conditions, which they have been unable to fulfil.
