Teachers Recruitment: Abia Govt. to Invite Shortlisted Candidates for Oral Interview

Abia State Government will be inviting candidates who scored 45% and above in the recently conducted Teachers Recruitment Computer-Based Test for an oral interview next week.

This was made known by the Commissioner of Information, Prince Okey Kanu, on Tuesday, stating that the shortlisted candidates will receive invitations through text messages.

In a statement, he said, “This initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to enhancing the education sector. Governor Alex Otti recently paid an unscheduled visit to Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU), where he directed immediate improvements, including a 5000-capacity hostel, new faculties for Agriculture and Law, additional cafeterias, and the reconstruction of internal roads.”

Mr Kanu noted that about eight roads in Aba have been completed and will soon be commissioned.

“Additionally, the newly reconstructed 45-kilometre Umuahia-Uzuakoli-Akara-Alayi-Abiriba Road will be commissioned on April 2, 2025, by former President Olusegun Obasanjo. Engineers are currently installing solar streetlights along this route to ensure nighttime visibility.”

He revealed that Governor Alex Otti will also flag off the reconstruction of key roads, including the 4.32km Orpet-Umudafia-Lodu-Ahiaeke Road and the 3.79km Ahiaeke-Okwuta-Bende Road.

“In tertiary education, significant efforts are underway to upgrade the Abia State College of Education (Technical), Arochukwu (ASCETA), which had suffered years of neglect. The institution is preparing for accreditation in October, with ongoing infrastructural improvements, including a 500kVA transformer, water project, and perimeter fencing.

“These developments reflect the government’s unwavering dedication to education, infrastructure, and overall progress in Abia State” he concluded.
