Police operatives attached to the Anambra State Police Command Rapid Response Squad (RRS), while on patrol on the 8th of December, 2020, has busted three illegal revenue collectors along MCC junction Obosi and Upper Iweka General area.
The people arrested were 40-year-old Paul Nnamdi Okonkwo, 23-year-old Chukwura Ebube and Cynthia Agbaero following the ban of roadside revenue collection by the Anambra State Government.
On interrogation, the suspects claimed they were revenue collectors hired by one HON. Innocent Offordile who is alleged to be the “Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security and Chairman enforcement and compliance Committee”.
According to the Police Public Relation Officer, Haruna Mohammed, he disclosed that Mr Offordile was also invited by the Police for questioning to ascertain his level of involvement after which the suspects would be brought to book.
The police reiterated its commitment to ensuring the strict enforcement of government decision banning revenue collection on all the roads in the state.
