The Nigerian Police Force has arrested two high-profile international fugitives in a major breakthrough against transnational organised crime. The suspects, Felix Omoregie and Okwudili Sabastine Ezeje, were wanted in Belgium and the United Arab Emirates, respectively, for crimes including human trafficking, armed robbery, and drug trafficking.
Felix Omoregie, also known as “Eghosa Johnson Omoregie,” was arrested in Benin City, Edo State, following coordinated intelligence operations. Wanted by Belgian authorities since December 2023, Omoregie is accused of operating a human trafficking network that exploited young Nigerian women and minors across Europe for sex work. Authorities say the victims were subjected to psychological manipulation, voodoo rituals, and coercive debt bondage.
Following his conviction in absentia in Belgium in 2021 for multiple human trafficking offences, Omoregie fled to Nigeria. During his arrest, police recovered incriminating materials, including a photocopy of a passport intended for relocation to Canada. He is expected to be arraigned at the Federal High Court in Benin City.

In a separate operation, 37-year-old Okwudili Sabastine Ezeje was captured by INTERPOL operatives in Nsukka, Enugu State. Ezeje, a key figure in a Dubai-based robbery syndicate, is wanted in the UAE for a series of high-profile crimes, including armed robbery at Dubai Mall, a heist at Al Ansari Exchange in Jumeirah, and another robbery at a Bureau de Change in Jebel Ali Village.
The arrests were made possible through international cooperation between the Nigerian Police, the Office of the National Security Adviser, and the Dubai Police.
Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, praised the operatives involved for their professionalism and reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to global law enforcement collaboration. He emphasised that the country will not serve as a refuge for fugitives.
“These arrests send a strong message that criminals will have no hiding place, whether within or beyond our borders,” the police chief stated.
