A violent domestic altercation turned deadly on Tuesday morning in the Qua River Quarters area of Eket, Akwa Ibom State, leaving a young woman dead and her boyfriend critically injured.
A violent domestic altercation turned deadly on Tuesday morning in the Qua River Quarters area of Eket, Akwa Ibom State, leaving a young woman dead and her boyfriend critically injured.

According to a statement issued by DSP Timfon John, the Spokesperson of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, officers responded to a distress call at approximately 10:15 AM on May 6, where they found the lifeless body of a woman later identified as Ruth Ngozi Sunday.
She was discovered in a pool of blood alongside her cohabiting boyfriend, who was also found with serious stab wounds and barely clinging to life.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the couple had engaged in a fatal dispute involving a kitchen knife. The specific cause of the altercation remains unknown.

Both individuals were rushed to a nearby medical facility, where Ruth was confirmed dead. Her boyfriend, whose identity is yet to be disclosed, is currently receiving treatment in critical condition.
The suspected murder weapon has been recovered, and police have contacted the family of the deceased. Efforts are ongoing to trace the relatives of the injured suspect.
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has assured the public that the investigation is active and ongoing.
