The Former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has stated that it was the duty of the management of the National Youth Service Corps to secure the release of corps members who were kidnapped on their way to their various States of primary assignment.
The two corps members, Jennifer Lorliam and Joseph Aondana who are indigenes of Benue State were posted to Zamfara State but were kidnapped on their way to their State of assignment and an N2 million ransom was demanded by the kidnappers.
Sani made it clear that it was the responsibility of the NYSC who posted them there to secure their release.
“Jenifer Iorliam and Joseph Aondana, youth Corpers who are now in the hands of terrorists in Zamfara state and with a ransom of N2 million placed on their heads should be freed by none other than the NYSC that posted them there. The NYSC should be held responsible.”
However, NYSC management has not reacted to the abduction of the corps members but a line at its booklet opined that corps members who travel by road should set aside their ransom in case of eventualities.
Meanwhile, the Zamfara State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of two Corps Members on Gusau-Tsafe road, the members deployed to Kebbi and Sokoto States were abducted along with other passengers.
