Tragedy Strikes MOUAU as Final-Year Engineering Student Dies During Football Match
A somber atmosphere has enveloped the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) in Abia State following the sudden death of a final-year Mechanical Engineering student, Nwachukwu Omiko.
A somber atmosphere has enveloped the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) in Abia State following the sudden death of a final-year Mechanical Engineering student, Nwachukwu Omiko.
The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday while Omiko was participating in a friendly football game with fellow students on the university’s sports field. Eyewitnesses say he unexpectedly collapsed during the match, prompting immediate efforts by those around him to resuscitate him.
Despite their attempts, Omiko remained unresponsive. He was quickly transported to the Federal Medical Centre in Umuahia, where medical personnel confirmed him dead on arrival.
The university community has been left in shock and mourning over the loss of one of its promising students.
