Civil Defence Personnel Caught on Video Assaulting Civilian

An alarming video has surfaced showing a civilian being brutally manhandled by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) within the SPAR area near the Cultural Centre in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.

The specific offense committed by the victim remains unclear at this time.

However, the footage shared by journalist Agba Jalingo on Thursday, shows a disturbing level of force and assault by the officers.

Observers have condemned the conduct as excessive and unprofessional, calling for an immediate investigation by the relevant authorities.

“This looks brutish and needs to be investigated. There are too many uniforms on the roads unleashing horror on citizens daily,” he wrote.
