ABIA STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY VISITS FAULKS ROAD, NGWA ROAD ON OVERSIGHT FUNCTION
Members of the Abia State House of Assembly today went on oversight function to some roads in Aba the commercial nerve centre of our dear state to ascertain the current conditions of the roads including Faulks Road and Ngwa Road.
At Faulks Road in Aba North Local Government Area, and at Ngwa Road in Aba South Local GovernmentArea, the Speaker who spoke on behalf of Members of the House about the condition of the roads, told the people that the state Lawmakers feel their pains and worries but quickly assured them that the legislators shall be having an interface with the Executive Arm to ensure that the Governor’s promise for construction works to recommence on the roads were not in any way circumvented. He told the relevant Commissioners present during the visit to help the Governor realise his dreams of fixing the roads.
The House of Assembly also assured the people of the respective areas that contractors handling the road projects shall soon be summoned to appear before the House as part of actions to ensure that the roads were fixed. The Speaker therefore appealed to the people to exercise some more patience as works were expected to recommence on the roads as soon as the rains were over.
Signed:
Rt Hon Ifeanyi Uchendu
Deputy Speaker and Chairman, House Committee on Media and Publicity
There have been several calls by many Abians on the dilapidated condition of the road especially as it leads to the popular Ariaria International Market. The Governor, through the Commissioner for Information, Dr Eze Chikamnayo directed the contractor to return to the site but so far, no contractor has been seen on the road.
