The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced an accelerated review of its examination processes following an unprecedented wave of public complaints after releasing the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results.
The results, published last Friday, have sparked widespread concern, particularly from candidates in several unnamed states who reported unusual issues. In response, JAMB has begun a fast-tracked version of its annual post-examination system review, which typically takes months.
According to a statement signed by JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, on Monday, the Board’s review will examine all three critical phases of the exam process: registration, testing, and result release. “We are currently scrutinising these complaints in detail to identify and rectify any potential technical issues,” the statement read.
To ensure transparency and accuracy, JAMB said it has enlisted external experts, including members of the Computer Professionals Association of Nigeria, leading academics, assessment bodies, and Vice Chancellors from various universities.

“If it is determined that there were indeed glitches, we will implement appropriate remedial measures promptly,” Benjamin added.
JAMB reaffirmed its commitment to fairness, noting that technical disruptions during the exam period are routinely addressed by rescheduling affected candidates’ tests without delay. The Board is expected to provide further updates as the review progresses.
Alex Onyia, the CEO of EduCare, has vowed to raise a class action suit against JAMB, demanding a full disclosure on the marking sheet and students’ scoring details. He revealed the irregularities in the UTME examination in 2025, stating that examinations taken on the 24th, 25th and 26th of April were majorly affected, with the worst day being on the 26th of April.
He noted that “11,467 complaints have been filed already.”
