A heavy-duty truck has crushed an unascertained number of students in Ojodu grammar school in Berger area of Lagos State while being allegedly pursued by Vehicle Inspection Officers, VIO, towards Ogba from Ojodu-Berger Bus Stop.
It was gathered that, on Tuesday, the driver lost control around Ojodu-Berger due to a brake failure which resulted in the death of over 20 students.
This crash led to a protest by students and passersby who attacked the police station. The police retaliated by shooting sporadically at the students.
According to a student who wanted to remain anonymous, he said it was a case of hit and run. “The police were pursuing the truck driver, he was on top speed so when he reached the grammar school, there was no way for him to slow down and he crushed 21 students. All of them are dead now.”
Viral video shows the bodies of the students crushed on the floor with brains splattered on the road side.
Meanwhile, students who suffered injuries have been taken to nearby medical facilities.
The truck, which was laden with laundry detergents, was subsequently set ablaze after the driver reportedly fled the scene but was later caught and handed over to the police by the students.
