The Nigerian Police have arrested the convener of RevolutionNow and the owner of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore in Abuja on Thursday 24th February 2022.
This was made known by his lawyer and human rights activist Inibehe Effiong who stated that the police laid ambush outside the Court of Appeal in the FCT where they attended a hearing of his case against the Federal Government.
“I just stepped out of the Court of Appeal in Abuja with Omoyele Sowore after our case only for the Police to lay ambush and arrest him outside the Court. He has been taken away (presumably to former SARS Office in Abuja).
The Buhari regime is devoting resources to persecute and witch-hunt an unarmed citizen for demanding a better country while pampering terrorists who are killing Nigerians on a daily basis. This is dictatorship.
We shall not be intimidated.”
Earlier today, Sowore was attacked by thugs and assassins while on his way to the Court of Appeal and took the phones of some of his team members.
Sowore wrote, “Today again in Abuja, Muhammadu Buhari regime sent assassins and thugs after us on our way to the Court of Appeal, they succeeded in double-crossing our rear team, heavily assaulted occupants of the car and took their phones…”
This wouldn’t be the first time Sowore has been attacked by operatives of the Nigerian Police and the DSS. He has been attacked each of the days he appeared in court in solidarity with the arrested leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
So far, no confirmation of arrest has been made by the Police as of the time of filing this report.
