Omoyele Sowore: Lawyers Denied Access

Human Rights activist Inibehe Effiong has been denied access to arrested activist and convener of RevolutionNow Omoyele Sowore by the Nigerian Police.

Sowore was arrested earlier today outside the Court of Appeal in Abuja after he was attacked by thugs and security operatives on his way to court.

Effiong wrote; “I have been denied access to Omoyele Sowore at the Abattoir (former SARS facility in Abuja). This regime is dishonest. If you believe that SARS has ended you’re mistaken. It is still the same cycle of impunity and lawlessness.”

Journalist Agba Jalingo also revealed that Sowore was arrested over a petition by businessman Ned Nwoko.

“Omoyele Sowore, arrested over a petition from Ned Nwoko.
He is currently detained at the abattoir police station in Abuja.”
