The head of the Corporation, Innoson Group, Cornel Osigwe has stated that the corporation was doing an independent investigation into the alleged forgery by Ejikeme Mmesoma, who was accused by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board of manipulating her result sheet.
“We’re doing our independent investigation on the issue of manipulation, if we found that the girl willfully manipulated her result, we shall withdraw the scholarship, but if we observe she is innocent of the accusation, then the scholarship stands, whether she is the best or not.”
According to JAMB spokesman Fabian Benjamin on Sunday, Miss Mmesoma was not the overall best candidate in the UTME examination and revealed that she scored 249 but manipulated her result to be 362.
JAMB revealed that “she had manipulated her UTME result to deceive the public and fraudulently obtained a scholarship and other recognition. It is to be noted that the candidate had sent a message to the board’s platform to request her UTME result, after which she manually inflated her scores and pasted the same on the 2022 UTME result sheet.
“Unknown to her, the board had changed the design of the 2023 UTME result sheet. Her original result remains 249 as nothing can change that.”
JAMB warned that “the likes of Mmesoma are still out there, deceiving those who are always in a hurry to bestow honour on candidates without confirming from the board.”
Innoson group who had visited the girl and her family, gave her an N3 million scholarship stated that if it’s found that the young girl wilfully manipulated her result, the scholarship will be withdrawn.
Mr. Osigwe also disclosed that the young girl could not have manipulated her result as her parents could not afford to pay for her WAEC fees and NECO examination.
“That girl was one of the most brilliant in her school, according to the Principal, her parents couldn’t even afford to pay for her WEAC and NECO Exams. Of what advantage will it offer her to manipulate her JAMB score? Let the poor breathe pls.”
