The leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have declared an indefinite strike from October 3, 2023, over the Federal Government’s failure to address the concerns and suffering brought upon by the removal of subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
The leaders who set aside their differences made this known at a joint press conference at the Headquarters of the NLC in Abuja at 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
It was gathered that the Unions have urged members in the State chapters to mobilize for protests across the country.
Meanwhile, the Federal government has urged the NLC leadership to stall their planned strike as plans are underway to address the concerns raised by the Union.
Speaking, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong through a statement by Olajide Oshundu, the spokesman of the Ministry appealed for a little time to address pending concerns while acknowledging that the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Road Transport Workers has been released.
