A 25-year-old man, Mansur Umar, has been arrested by the Kano State Police Command for allegedly killing his sister’s boyfriend, Sulaiman Musa, in Kunya Village, Minjibir Local Government Area of Kano State.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the incident occurred on the night of May 9, 2025, around 9:30 p.m., when the victim reportedly visited his girlfriend, Fiddausi Umar, at her residence.
An altercation ensued, during which Mansur Umar allegedly struck Sulaiman Musa on the head with a stick, inflicting severe injuries.
The victim was rushed to Kunya Cottage Hospital and later referred to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, where he died at approximately 12:50 a.m. the next day.
The suspect is currently in custody as investigations continue at the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
The Kano State Police Command urged residents to seek peaceful means of resolving disputes and avoid taking the law into their own hands. Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, also encouraged the public to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station, reaffirming the command’s commitment to public safety.
