Following the successful arrest of some suspected kidnappers including one Ese-Oghene Ezekiel, who masterminded the kidnap of his brother (Name withheld) and members of his household at Oha community, Okpe Local Government Area during which one Regina Ogana, the brother’s wife was shot dead, the Police have arrested two other suspects on the 13th of October 2023.
The suspects who include 21-year-old James Aboyo and Solomon Gbolode were arrested by the Divisional Police Officer, Oreorokpe, who mobilized and personally led men of the Divisional Anti-Crime Patrol team and stormed Ofuoma in Ughelli North LGA.
According to a statement by the Commissioner of Police, Wale Athe bass, preliminary investigation led to the arrest of another suspect connected to the incident.
“Consequently, upon their arrest, the team proceeded to search the premises and hideout. Upon reaching their hideout, one Blessing Deco ‘m’ aged 22 was arrested while other gang members who apparently sighted the approaching police team, took to their heels. When the house was searched, the following items were recovered:
i. Four (4) AK 47 Rifles
ii. One (1) Pump Action
iii. One (1) locally made single Barrel Cut-to-size Pistol
iv. Fifty-eight (58) Rounds of 7.62 Live Ammunitions
v. Thirteen (13) Live Cartridges
vi. Five (5) Packs of Improvised Explosive devices
vii. Six (6) Detonators, and
viii. Eight (8) Empty Magazines.
The suspects who confessed to their involvement in the crime and other kidnapping incidents in the state, are presently in custody, assisting police investigation while manhunt for the other fleeing members of the gang is ongoing.”
Late Regina Ogana was kidnapped alongside her husband and other members of her family on the 2nd of August 2023 but subsequent events revealed that the brother to the husband of the deceased Eseoghene Ezekiel Obeje, who faked his kidnap was the culprit and mastermind of the kidnap of the whole family.
