The Lagos State Police Command has arrested five suspects, including a guardian, for allegedly abducting and selling a two-week-old baby for N3 million.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the case began on May 5, 2025, when a man reported to the Ajah Police Division that his 16-year-old cousin, identified as Miss Happiness, had been impregnated and later went missing along with her newborn.
Preliminary investigations revealed that due to financial hardship, the teenager’s care was entrusted to one Nonye Osi. However, Osi allegedly conspired with four others to relocate the girl and later sold her baby.

The suspects include: Nonye Osi, Akintan Adedayo, Jimoh Bashiru, Elizabeth Bishop, and Bukola Oladapo, who were arrested following a discreet investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
Police operatives later traced and recovered the baby from Agemuwo, in the Badagry area of Lagos. Authorities confirmed the child is in good health and currently under the care of the Gender/Anti-Human Trafficking Unit pending his reunion with his mother.
The Lagos State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting all residents and ensuring justice is served in the matter.
Investigations are ongoing.
