In a continued effort to build global competitiveness and self-sufficiency among young people in Akwa Ibom State, the member representing Oruk Anam/Ukanafun Federal Constituency, Hon. Unyime Idem, has dispatched the 12th batch of eight trainees to China for specialised capacity development programs.
The eight selected beneficiaries will undergo intensive training in Industry Development, Development and Application of Small Hydropower Standards, as well as Vocational Training and Poverty Reduction through Labour Transfer. This initiative forms part of Idem’s broader commitment to train 100 Akwa Ibom youths in globally relevant skills.
“This is in fulfilment of my commitment to train 100 youths to gain mastery of relevant skills for self-sufficiency and global competitiveness,” Idem said. “I want to raise the next generation of leaders in Akwa Ibom State.”
The eight trainees in this batch include: Lady Victoria Monday Uko, Godwin Sampson Udobot, Nnimnobong Ukana Ibanga, Ettete Peter Obosi, Akainyene Paulinus Elijah, Nkom Brownson Ekpe, Wisdom Mfon Jackson and Nseabasi Emmanuel Udomfu.

In his address to the participants, Idem reminded them of the importance of global exposure and urged them to take full advantage of the opportunity. “The world is a global village. You need to be exposed to modern technology so you can compete effectively with your counterparts around the world,” he emphasised.
Citing his own experience as a product of international training and exposure, Idem said, “It is my desire that these young ones will do better than I. This program is designed to position them on a pedestal of success.”
Each participant received a formal “Letter of Nomination and Sponsorship to Training in China,” which outlines their entitlements and responsibilities. The letter stated: “As a participant in the training, you’re entitled to a travelling allowance, but beyond that, your experience there will put you on a pedestal to compete favourably with your counterparts across the globe.”
He further urged them to conduct themselves with dignity and represent both Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria honourably.
Idem reiterated his commitment to continue the program until the 100-youth training target is achieved, with future batches to be sent out periodically.
