Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has revealed the readiness of the Lagos State Government to integrate the State Police stating that the Lagos Neighbourhood Agency has over 5,000 officers and has been given approval for 4,000 more to be employed.
Speaking at a media chat with journalists on Thursday, Mr. Sanwo-Olu assured that if the state police are approved, then Lagos State already has about 10,000 men ready for more training as the officers of the agency have been assisting police with intelligence and know the inside and out of the local communities.
Speaking on the demolitions of buildings going on in the State, the governor said structures removed contravened the State laws on buildings.
“On building demolitions, we only remove the structures of those that contravened the State’s building and development laws. We don’t consider the ethnic or religious background of those defaulting our laws. We cannot compromise the laws; we need to rescue the city”
“The Lagos State laws protecting the rights of tenants and landlords are still in force. Lagosians need to come out and file complaints against erring landlords collecting more than one year’s rent. LASRERA will attend to their complaints.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu also commended the Federal Government for supporting the State Government in procuring more rolling stock for the Blue and Red Line Rails and revealed that the groundbreaking for the 4th Mainland Bridge will be done by the end of April 2024 and the project will be done in Phases.
