Otti Speaks on Suspended Executives, Civil Servants

The Governor of Abia State Dr Alex Otti has stated that a panel has been set up to investigate the allegations made against the Commissioner for Health Dr Ngozi Okoronkwo and other executives of his administration.

He made this known while responding to a question at the media chat with journalists at the Banquet Hall, Government House in Umuahia on Friday, June 21, 2024.

“It is a suspension. The reason for this is to allow the panel set up to investigate the allegations made against the executives involved. If they are found innocent, they will return to their jobs but if found guilty, then it’s a different case.”

Speaking on the welfare of workers in the State, Governor Otti stated that workers receive their salaries unfailingly every 28th of the month.

“At the last executive meeting, I instructed the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission and Head of Service to sit down and synergize promotions in the commission. The last time workers were promoted was in 2021. A lot of things went wrong. We are retrieving from ground zero.

“When workers speak through their representatives, they forget that they represent a small percentage of the people in the State. What we build is for the people, not a particular set of people but for everyone. We are doing a lot at the same time.”

Governor Otti who said his focus for the second year of his administration is Education, Health Care, and Agriculture assured workers that they are not being ignored but his administration is putting things in place to better the lives of not just a few Abians but everyone resident in the State.

“I’m just knowing about the leave allowance of workers so we will look at it. I’ll direct the Accountant General to do something about it because I believe that a worker desires his wage. So we’ll look at it.”
