Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the Senator representing Kogi Central District, has charged Ekaette Akpabio, the wife of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, to leave the defence of the allegations for her husband and focus on her family.
Writing through her lawyer, Victor Giwa, Senator Natasha on March 1 said ‘she was constrained to reveal the unfortunate torture and victimization she has endured in the Red Chambers’ and wishes that Mrs Akpabio restrain herself from delving into the obscene circumstances.
This comes following an interview with Mrs Ekaette Akpabio, who defended her husband against the “lies” and asserted that he is the most disciplined man she knows.
The letter, addressed to Ekaette Akpabio, reads: “Our client is not desirous of calling you out into the unfortunate saga concerning her allegations against the Senate President and wishes that you restrain yourself from delving into the obscene circumstances. While she has tolerated all the harassment from the Senate President, she was constrained to reveal the unfortunate torture and victimization she has endured in the Red Chambers.

Consequently, we would like to state that the allegations of our client are personal to the Senate President, and our client believes the Senate President has the capacity to defend himself and refute any of these allegations against him. Our client has concrete evidence to substantiate her allegations. We will suggest that you leave the defense of the allegations for the Senate President to maintain your sanity and that of your family.”
Meanwhile, women of Akwa Ibom State protested on Saturday in support of the Senate President and urged Senator Natasha to quit the accusations levelled at him.
But former Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki has called for an unbiased investigation into the case of sexual harassment and charged the lawmakers to protect the sanctity of the Senate.
