Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has enacted four new laws establishing specialized agencies across key sectors of the state’s economy and administration.
According to a statement from his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the newly signed laws lay the foundation for the creation of the following bodies:
- Kano State Protection Agency (KASPA) – focused on enhancing public safety and safeguarding lives and property.
- Kano State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KASIAA) – tasked with regulating outdoor advertising and ensuring orderliness in signage displays.
- Kano State Information and Communication Technologies Development Agency (KASITDA) – aimed at promoting digital innovation, ICT growth, and modernization.
- Kano State Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (KASMEDA) – designed to empower entrepreneurs, support SMEs, and boost job creation.

Governor Yusuf highlighted the strategic importance of the new institutions, noting that they will reinforce the government’s capacity to deliver on its development agenda. He stressed that these agencies are crucial in stimulating economic activity, improving service delivery, and fostering an inclusive, technology-driven environment.
He also issued a firm directive that the laws will be strictly enforced, warning that any breaches will attract serious penalties. The Governor reiterated his administration’s resolve to uphold the rule of law and ensure that the new agencies function effectively for the benefit of Kano’s citizens.
