The Abia State Commissioner for Health, Dr Joe Osuji has informed the general public of the outbreak of Lassa fever in the State and its containment.
He said through a statement made available to news reporters on Tuesday.
Dr Joe Osuji advised all Abians to get rid of rodents in their environment and also wash their hands regularly in order to prevent further breakdown of the disease.
He further disclosed that index patients affected by Lassa fever have already been contained and drugs and treatment administered.
There will also be a standby team to ensure a 24-hour emergency operation for the next 21 days.
