The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has closed a supermarket located in Maitama, Abuja, due to the sale and distribution of banned, unregistered, and counterfeit regulated products.
In a statement, NAFDAC reported that the supermarket also obstructed its officers during the enforcement of regulatory actions.
During an initial visit, NAFDAC inspectors discovered several banned and unregistered items. Although the supermarket’s management was invited to the agency for further investigation, they refused to comply.

This led to a follow-up operation by an enforcement team, which faced further obstruction from the supermarket.
Items seized from the premises included unregistered pet food, banned imported soaps, and counterfeit or re-bagged rice, among others.
