In defence of the viral information of a member of Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps killing a motorist conveying goods this morning, the NSCDC has defended self over the allegation.
The incident which happened on Wednesday left many in shock as the Governors directive excluded people conveying goods.
The NSCDC has stated that the motorist was not conveying goods as stipulated but was trying to run away from the checkpoint when stopped.
The statement which the organization released also stated that the officer had no intention to kill him but to stop him from running away.
The statement further reads that the late motorist was taken to the hospital where he died but when the angry youths tried to lynch him, other officers stopped them and quickly handed him over to the police.
Newsleverage earlier reported of the killing of the motorist this morning at Umuikaa junction by a member of the Nigerian Civil Defense Corps and the Governor’s directive towards fishing out the culprit.
There has been lockdown in Abia State and the Governor directed that only people conveying goods, journalist and other health workers should be allowed but all must be wearing a facemask.
