The Kaduna State Government has provided free transport services in Kafanchan, Zaria, and Kaduna towns to mitigate the pains of the Naira crunch to the residents.
It revealed this in a letter signed by Muyiwa Adekeye, the Special Adviser to Governor Nasir El-Rufai on Media and Communication on Tuesday after a caucus meeting of the Kaduna State Security Council.
According to the statement, the government will provide free transport services on the aforementioned designated routes in partnership with transport unions in the State.
It also revealed that it will provide free medical care in government hospitals for sicknesses like malaria and typhoid while it will also roll out palliatives as it did during the COVID-19 pandemic.
It however stated that the interim measures will last for a week, from 22 February 2023.
Recall that Governor El-Rufai had directed the continued use of the old N500 and N1000 notes in his State despite the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari on the old notes ceasing to be a legal tender in the country last week.
