Two students and a staff of the Federal University, Gusau have been rescued by the Zamfara State Police Command after they were abducted at gunpoint by bandits on the evening of October 14, 2023.
It was also gathered that the abductors who were wielding dangerous weapons and forcefully entered a rented student residence situated on the outskirts of Sabon Garin Damba, were apprehended.
In a statement by the ASP Yazid Abubakar
Police Public Relations Officer of the Command on Tuesday, the Police were responding to a distress call and activated a rescue operation.
“We are pleased to report that the efforts of the Command have yielded a successful and positive outcome, as all the victims were rescued unharmed, while three of the abductors were apprehended. Operations are still ongoing to apprehend other fleeing abductors.
Under the capable leadership of Commissioner of Police Mohammed Shehu Dalijan (PSC FSI), the Zamfara State Police Command remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding lives and property throughout the state, including the provision of a conducive atmosphere for the learning process, ensuring the safety and security of educational institutions.
